This is an absolutely delicious dessert that is super easy to make and perfect for fall. Everyone will love this especially with a simple scoop of vanilla ice cream.
4 medium apples, unpeeled, cored, and thinly sliced
Lemon juice from 1 lemon
½ cup plus 2 Tbs coconut palm sugar
½ cup brown rice flour
1 tsp ground cinnamon
½ tsp salt
¼ cup vegetable shortening
- Preheat the oven to 400F. Spray 8-in square baking dish.
- In a large bowl, toss the apples with lemon juice and the 2 Tbs sugar. Transfer to the prepared dish.
- In a medium bowl, combine the remaining sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt. With your fingers, work the shortening into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse meal.
- Sprinkle the topping evely over the apples. Cover and bake for 25 minutes. Uncover and bake for 7 minutes. Serve warm.
